Images, prices, and stock

Images, price, and stock often have the strongest effect on the buyer's decision. Check these details before publishing a product and after important changes.

Primary image

The primary image is the main product photo. It may be shown in the product card, lists, and product page.

A good primary image helps the buyer quickly understand what they are looking at. But a photo does not replace the name and description: important details still need to be written as text.

If the image is processing or is not displayed, wait a little, refresh the page, and check the product card in the cabinet.

The gallery helps show the product from different sides.

Add only images that help the buyer:

  1. see the shape, color, and details;
  2. understand the size or set contents;
  3. compare usage scenarios;
  4. make sure the product matches the description.

Do not add random images or photos that do not belong to the product.

Price, discount, and final price

The product card usually has:

  1. Base price - price before discount.
  2. Discount - optional discount amount.
  3. Final price - the amount the buyer will see.

If there is no discount, the final price matches the base price. If there is a discount, check that the final price does not look unexpected.

If the Show percent benefit setting is available, enable it only when the product truly has a discount and the buyer can understand which price it is calculated from.

Product stock

Stock shows how many product units are available.

For a regular product, stock should be filled in carefully. It may affect whether the product can be purchased and how the product looks on the storefront.

Showing the exact quantity to the buyer may depend on a separate product card setting on the storefront. If the buyer does not see the exact stock, this is not always a product error.

Stock and the Available to order setting

The Available to order setting is related to stock, but it does not replace stock.

If stock is positive, the buyer purchases the product from current stock. For example, if 2 units are in stock, the buyer cannot check out with 3 units in one item. The system limits quantity to the current stock because a mixed scenario such as part from stock + part made to order is not supported in the current version.

If stock reaches 0 and Available to order is enabled, the product remains available for checkout. The buyer sees the Made to order badge and a fixed explanation that the seller will prepare or make the product after checkout and will clarify timing and details after receiving the order.

If stock is 0 and the setting is disabled, the product behaves like a regular product without stock: the buyer should not be able to check it out as an available product.

Before enabling the setting, check that:

  1. you are really ready to accept an order without current stock;
  2. the product description does not promise an exact timing if it has not been agreed yet;
  3. payment and delivery methods fit a product that needs to be prepared after checkout;
  4. the shop team understands who contacts the buyer and clarifies the details.

SKU

SKU is the seller's internal item code. It helps you distinguish similar products in your own accounting, messages, and orders.

SKU can be any code that is clear to your team, such as CUP-SET-01. Do not use buyer personal data or details you do not want to show in the workflow.

What to check before saving

Before saving the product, check that:

  1. the primary image is uploaded;
  2. the gallery has no extra or wrong photos;
  3. the base price is correct;
  4. the discount is not greater than the price;
  5. the final price looks expected;
  6. stock is filled in;
  7. if Available to order is enabled, you understand how you will prepare the product after stock reaches zero;
  8. SKU is clear to you and not confused with another product;
  9. the description does not contradict the images.

What to do if...

The image is not displayed

Check whether the image was uploaded in the cabinet. If it is still processing, wait and refresh the page. If upload failed, remove the image and upload it again.

Price or discount does not look as expected

Check the base price, discount, and final price. If no discount is needed, leave it empty or remove the value if the interface allows it.

Stock is not shown to the buyer

Check the product card settings on the storefront. Showing the exact quantity may be controlled separately from the product stock itself.

The buyer cannot choose more than the current stock

This is expected if stock is still positive. While the product is in stock, FastyShop limits quantity to the current stock. Made to order mode starts after stock reaches 0 and Available to order is enabled.

Stock ran out, but the product can still be ordered

Check whether Available to order is enabled. If it is enabled, the product remains available after stock reaches zero, and the buyer sees the Made to order badge. If the shop is not ready to accept such orders, disable the setting or update the product card.

The buyer asks whether the product is in stock

Check stock in the cabinet and the product page on the storefront. If stock changed after an order or a manual sale, update it before sending new information to the buyer.
