Creating and editing a product
A product is a card that the seller fills in inside the cabinet. The buyer sees the public product card on the storefront, but the cabinet card and the public card are different surfaces.
Open the needed shop in the seller cabinet and go to Product management.
Product list
The product list helps the seller quickly understand which cards are being prepared, which are already published, and which are in archive.
On this page you can:
- switch between
Drafts,Published, andArchive; - search products by name;
- filter products by category, product type, availability, and sort order;
- open the product creation form;
- open an existing product for editing;
- publish, return to drafts, archive, or restore a product when the action is available for the current status.
If the list is empty, check active filters and the selected status tab. The product may not be lost: it may be hidden by a filter, belong to another category, or be in archive.
Next step: if there is no product yet, add the first regular product. If the product already exists, open its form and check the category, price, stock, images, and status.
Product form: what to fill in first
Choose Add product or New product, if that action is available in the current interface.
In the current beta period, the working scenario is Regular product. This is a physical product that the seller can give to the buyer through the selected delivery or pickup terms.
The interface may show Digital and Service types, but the current working scenario is still a regular product. Use it until the cabinet supports preparing a digital product or service for sale.
The product form usually has Main, Category fields, and Choice variants steps. First fill in the main details and choose a category. After choosing a category, check the additional fields and choice variants: they depend on the selected category settings and the product card itself.
Creating a product saves the card as a draft. Before publication, check that the product is not only saved, but also ready to be shown to the buyer.
Main product details
Check the main fields:
- Category - the catalog section where the buyer will look for the product.
- Product name - a short, clear name.
- Product status - draft, published product, or archive.
- Base price - price before discount.
- Discount - optional discount amount.
- Final price - the amount the buyer will see.
- Stock - how many product units are available.
- SKU - the seller's internal item code.
- Primary image - the main product photo.
- Image gallery - additional photos.
- Short description - text for cards and lists.
- Description - full description for the product page.
- Category fields - characteristics that depend on the selected category.
Do not use only photos instead of a description. The buyer needs to understand composition, size, purpose, or other important product details.
Made-to-order product
A regular product card may have an Available to order setting. Use it when you are ready to accept orders for a product after the current stock runs out.
The setting is off by default. If you enable it, check that you can prepare or make the product after checkout and can contact the buyer about timing and details.
The setting is tied to stock:
- while stock is greater than
0, the product is sold as a regular product from current stock; - the buyer cannot order more than the current stock while stock is positive;
- the public
Made to orderbadge is not shown while the product is still in stock; - when stock reaches
0, a product with the setting enabled remains available for checkout; - if stock is
0and the setting is disabled, the product behaves like a regular out-of-stock product.
The setting does not create a mixed scenario such as 2 units from stock + 1 unit made to order in one cart item. Current stock is sold first, and made-to-order mode starts only after stock reaches zero.
In the current version, the buyer explanation text is fixed: FastyShop says that the product is made to order, that the seller will prepare or make it after checkout, and that the seller will clarify timing and details after receiving the order. Sellers cannot set a separate explanation text for each product yet.
How the category affects the product
The category determines where the product is located in the catalog and which additional fields appear in the product form.
If the category has required fields, they need to be filled before product publication when the current validation requires it.
If you change the category, some filled fields may not fit the new category. The cabinet may warn about this before saving.
If the category has choice variant templates, they help prepare a new product faster. After saving, options live on the product level: the public card, cart, and order use the settings of the specific product, not the category template.
Changing a category template does not update existing products automatically. If you need to change the size, color, or packaging for one product card, open that product and check the Choice variants tab.
Choice variants in a product
Use the Choice variants tab if the buyer must choose a value before adding the product to the cart: size, color, packaging, bundle, or a similar parameter.
On the product level, you can add an option group, values inside the group, whether the choice is required, and display order. If the selected category has templates, the cabinet may offer to add missing groups from the category. Existing product options are not changed.
If you delete a value or group in the product card, this affects only that product. The category template and other existing products do not change.
After deletion, the option is no longer shown to new buyers in the public product card. If a buyer already added the old option to the cart, the system may ask them to remove the item or choose an available option again.
Can you change the category of a published product?
If the product is already published, the cabinet may ask you to return it to draft first. This helps avoid changing the public product card too abruptly.
The usual order is:
- return the product to draft;
- change the category;
- check category fields;
- save the product;
- publish again when the card is ready.
Archived product
An archived product may open only for viewing. To edit it again, return the product to drafts, if that action is available.
An archived product is not shown to buyers as an active product on the platform.
Product metrics and views
In the product card inside the seller cabinet, there is a Product metrics block. It helps you quickly see what has happened with the product after publication.
Some metrics are related to orders and depend on the period selected in the interface, for example Today, 7 days, or 30 days. The block also has a separate Views section.
The Views section shows:
- views for the last
7 days; - views for the last
30 days; - views for all time;
- the change for the last
30 dayscompared with the previous30 days, if there is enough data.
A view is counted when a buyer or another visitor opens the public product card on the storefront and stays on it long enough. This is not a unique buyer count and not exact order conversion: one person can create several views at different times, and quick repeated opens of the same card may not count as new views for about 4 hours.
View data does not update instantly. It updates approximately once an hour. If you just opened the public product card for a check, the number in the cabinet may change later. Views that happened before this metric was launched are not restored into the new metrics.
Buyers do not see a view counter on the public product card. FastyShop also does not show a public badge such as Popular product based only on this metric.
Use views as a soft signal: if a product is opened often but has few orders or questions, check the photos, price, description, stock, and choice variants. Do not assume that every view was a real intent to buy the product.
What to do if...
You cannot create a digital product or service
This is expected for the current version. Create a Regular product. Digital products and services are not described as an available working scenario.
You cannot change the product category
Check the product status. If the product is published, return it to draft, save changes, and only then choose another category.
The product does not have the needed choice variants
Check the Choice variants tab in the product itself. If the category has matching templates, add the missing groups from the category or create a group manually.
Do not expect a category template change to fix an existing product card by itself. For an existing product, check and save options in the product card.
Category fields changed after choosing a category
This is normal. Fields depend on the category. Check required fields and fill in values that match the new category.
The product was saved as a draft
Open the product, check required fields, price, stock, image, and category. Then try publishing the product again.
The buyer asks why the product became made to order
Check the product stock and the Available to order setting. If stock reached 0 and the setting is enabled, the buyer can place an order for this product. Timing for preparation, production, payment, and delivery should be clarified with the buyer after you receive the order.
