How the buyer sees payment and delivery
The buyer sees your settings during checkout on the storefront. That is why payment and delivery should be checked not only in the cabinet, but also through the buyer's eyes.
Checkout flow
Usually the buyer follows this path:
- adds a product to the cart;
- opens checkout;
- chooses a delivery or order receiving method;
- enters an address if the selected delivery requires it;
- chooses an available payment method;
- leaves a comment if something needs clarification;
- checks the amount and sends the order.
After the order is sent, the selected methods are saved in the order.
Delivery selection
The buyer sees enabled delivery methods for the shop. For each method, it should be clear:
- name;
- instruction;
- whether address delivery is needed;
- delivery price if one is set.
If the delivery method is disabled, the buyer will not see it.
Delivery address
An address is needed only for methods where the order must be delivered to the buyer. For pickup, the buyer usually should not enter an address.
If you enabled address request, check that the instruction explains how delivery will be agreed and what the buyer should do if the address is not exact.
Payment selection
The payment method depends on the selected delivery. The buyer sees only available options.
For example, if cash payment is available only for pickup, it may disappear after the buyer selects address delivery. This is normal if compatibility is configured this way.
Order or delivery comment
The buyer can leave a comment if they need to clarify details: entrance, convenient time, call request, or other short details.
A comment does not replace required fields. If delivery needs an address, the buyer should fill in the address, not only write it in the comment.
Total amount
During checkout, the buyer should understand:
- product cost;
- delivery price if one is set;
- total order amount;
- that payment may happen manually according to the seller's instruction.
If the delivery price depends on district, weight, or separate agreement, do not promise an exact automatic price. In the instruction, explain that the seller will clarify terms after the order if your scenario allows it.
What to check before sales
Before sending the link to buyers, open the storefront and check that:
- the buyer can choose delivery;
- the buyer sees only suitable payment methods;
- the address is requested where it is needed;
- instructions do not look like internal notes;
- the total amount is not misleading;
- after sending the order, the data is visible in the seller cabinet.
Do not use real personal data for testing. If you need a test, use neutral data that does not belong to a real buyer.
What to do if...
The buyer does not see any delivery method
Check shop settings: at least one delivery or order receiving method should be enabled.
The buyer selected delivery but does not see payment
Check payment method compatibility with the selected delivery. All payment methods may be available only for another receiving method.
The buyer does not understand when to pay
Simplify the payment method instruction. Write whether the buyer pays on receipt, after order confirmation, or after the seller sends an invoice or payment details.
The buyer wants another method after sending the order
Open the order in the cabinet and contact the buyer through the data in the order. Do not change terms at random if the cabinet does not show a suitable action.
